Marian Stroński, (1892-1977). Life and oeuvre.

Muzeum Historii Miasta PrzemyślaExhibition at Brzykowska House, 9 Rynek Square (Town Hall Square), 3rd floor, rooms at Rynek Square side.

In three exhibition rooms there are on view painting works of Marian Stroński, an outstanding Przemyśl painter, graphic artist and polychrome renovator. The National Museum of Przemyśl District has been collecting his works since years; nowadays it has created the largest collection of Stroński’s works. The collection has been supplemented with artist’s family mementos, letters and artistic accessories.

The exhibition is divided into four sections. The first one presents the biography of the artist, his private life, family, and professional achievements. The second part embraces his representational art (portraits, landscapes, vedutas, and still lives, from the span of time from 1918 to the 1960s. The next part consists of Przemyśl and Krasiczyn graphics, from the so called Przemyśl Portfolio (graphics made in the years 1935, 1946, 1948 and 1957). The last part shows Stroński’s abstract art, very interesting and proving his formal researches.

The exhibition has been based partly on the collection purchased within the framework of programs of Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The purchase of the picture entitled “Still Life with Mushrooms” has been co-financed by Bank Zachodni WBK.
